This is my first post, and I wanted, first, to thank everyone on this thread. I've enjoyed getting updates and pictures on my home city while living here in Atlanta. Second, I wanted to let everyone who is interested know that the Mobile Planning Commission is meeting at 2:00 p.m. on June 19, 2008 to discuss whether to adopt the proposed zoning ordinances for the Village of Springhill. Apparently, some business owners are still adamently opposed to the concept. Anyway, the village of springhill has started a zoning petition -- found at
http://villagezoning.petitionhost.com -- and it has, to date, 280 signatures in support of the new zoning ordinance, which is quite a feat in and of itself. There is also a statement that the village put out about what the organization is attempting to accomplish. You can find it at
