I wish I had your pragmatism, Andrea. You're right, of course; tilting at windmills probably doesn't get us anywhere... But I do hope that when the
Annuls of Atlanta in the Early 21st Century are written, somewhere a footnote will record that "not everybody thought this was a good idea."
