The Federal Building (thus three 150-foot towers) at the Century of Progress. Designed by Arthur Brown and Edward H. Bennett, with three towers and allegorical sculptures to represent the three branches of government.

Behind the towers was a triangular Hall of States. Because of the Depression, the Fair Corp. built exhibit space on spec for states rather than having separate state pavilions as at the 1893 Fair. The cheaply built buildings of the 1933-34 fair relied on a carefully chosen palette of intense color paint, a palette chosen by stage set designer Joseph Urban. This picture shows the 1934 scheme, with orange on the dome and inside of the towers. The dome had been painted gold in 1933.
