The developer of a proposed LaQuinta Inn & Suites that would face Union and back up to Monroe agreed Thursday to redesign the hotel’s rear to be more appealing to pedestrians along Monroe.

The Land Use Control Board voted to recommend that the Memphis City Council grant a special-use permit for the development at 310 Union, but only after amending the request to include that the hotel have a “distinctive pedestrian entry” on the Monroe side.
