For years, a lone, drab building sat closed-up and empty at the northwest corner of the intersection of Southeast 52nd Avenue and Southeast Holgate Boulevard. A "No Graffiti" sign hung on the south face of it, often surrounded by various spray-painted tags.

As of just a few weeks ago, that building is no more. And in just about a month, that long quiet corner will begin its next chapter when ground breaks on the Lenox Addition Apartments, a four-story, 64-unit apartment building that will rise from the lot.

The project comes from a development team comprised of three different investment LLCs. Erik Opsahl, managing member of Rainier Pacific, which will be the contractor on the project, said the development is a unique one for the neighborhood in a few different ways.
