Looking forward to part 2 and beyond! The Southwest region is amazing.
Last time I was in this neck of the woods was 2006 on a roadie from Denver. Santa Fe is an awesome place, but it was in July during monsoon season and unfortunately a severe thunderstorm/flash flood put a damper on the visit.
I'll never forget driving through NM on my way back to the East Coast on 9/13/2001, 15 hour days, AM radio. Pulled over east of ABQ in the mountains at a roadside motel to get a couple hours of sleep alongside many other motorists attempting to get back east.
