This picture is the earthquake retrofit that is being done in the apartment area of the Fox Plaza. Metal flanges will be welded to the steel beams in the closet of apartments. Tenants affected will have to vacate to a temporary apartment for 19 days. I am not affected by the retrofit (except for the reduced elevator service).
The retrofit in the office section of the building will be done with steel beams placed at an angle on the inside perimeter.
The 4.4 earthquake 12 miles from my apartment building was a reminder that we live in an earthquake zone. It was quite a jolt in my apartment last week!
