You might have thought that they would have at least extended it to the 3/4 lane section west of Campbell Drive and east of Scheel Drive.

Widened Highway 417 Now Open in Arnprior
McGuinty Government Creating Jobs, Building a Stronger Economy

Ontario has finished widening Highway 417 from Regional Road 29 to Division Street through the Town of Arnprior, creating 700 jobs.

The project will make travel easier and safer for families and businesses. The section of highway now features:

5.6 km of new four-lane highway
A new interchange at White Lake Road
Two new overpasses at Baskin Drive and Division Street
Two new bridge crossings for the new westbound lanes at the CPR crossing and the Madawaska River Bridge
Repairs to the Madawaska River and CPR crossing bridges

Improving Ontario's transportation network is part of the McGuinty government's plan to strengthen the economy. A strong economy protects the services that mean the most to Ontario families - health care and education.
Morons... because of Provincial inaction, amongst other things, there is no CPR crossing anymore.

When they extend it to Renfrew they'll probably just pave right over the old CPR line on the level and knock down the existing overpass (if they're generous they might provide a low-level underpass like they did for Hwy 7).
