It's unfortunate that the Improv is closing, but not really surprising. The quality of their acts really dropped off over the last few years, long before Stand Up Live ever opened. And really, in a metro the size of Phoenix, they can't blame their demise on having a single competitor. It seemed like their marketing efforts only involved changing the headliner's name on the marquee and incessantly spamming previous customers.
