The architects (at that time known as Fox and Fowle and now FXfowle) would probably take that as a complement. They were trying to create a building that on one side expressed the excitement and vitality of Times Square and on the other side worked with the more somber and dignified office towers to the east.
What was created was a gleaming, exciting and high tech building that adds a lot to the feel of the new Times Square. As part of the bigger whole of the area, this building works well.
