I definitely see the global big city thing. The 3 big Dutch cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague) have a sort of global feel to them that feels very North Atlantic. The brick. The highrises that dot the cities in little clumps. The complex railway stations that pop up out of nowhere. The immigrant presence.

And they're surrounded by edge city corporate suburbia and midrise apartment blocks that feel vaguely Asian.

That said, the Dutch did all those things first, so maybe the world looks Dutch rather than the other way around.
