Yes, very true; north of Suzhou creek was historically a different settlement/concession from the British one in Huangpu district, I believe. So the old buildings in Hongko (the district immediately north of the Bund) has a very different characteristic in terms of zoning and historical architecture.

On the other hand, I just realized that there is a typo in the name of the thread . Oh, well.
