Airports Authority of India has proposed to the state government to suggest a new site for international airport. The study is going on at the chief secretary level to build new airport at Padubidri.
Irrespective of whether both NH-66 & NH-75 are Economic Corridors coastal Karnataka will have only one 'Mangalore Coastal Economic Zone' for all its domains of excellence like petrochemicals, marine, healthcare, tourism including medical tourism, agriculture & food processing etc. And it is becoming more & more certain that Padubidri is going to be international airport for this economic zone. So, let us start building knowledge cities for all 'domains of excellences' of 'Mangalore CEZ' around Padubidri including 'Karnad Sadashiva Rao Marine Knowledge City' at Mulki. Of course for 'agriculture & food processing knowledge city' Puttur may also be considered.
