As strange as it sounds, I didn't even think about the 80-200mm's portrait capabilities. I've been wanting to shoot compressed cityscapes and natural crowd/people shots for ages, so that was the first thing on my mind when getting a telephoto. The fact that the 80-200mm does portraits so well is like an added bonus.
