Kingston definitely isn't geared towards tourists like other caribbean cities, in fact most tourist flights don't fly into Kingston. I was there visiting family but i will say while downtown is pretty rough. While some spots are a no-go zone even for police, uptown Kingston looks like Miami or any other place in America.

yeah my friend told me about driving into kingston neighborhoods where locals on the street with machine guns stepped to the car and his cousin was doing fast talking to get them waved through. he wasn't happy with his cousin at all about that particularly because he was with his family.
