Is this true? I have been trying to find out what the exact dimensions of the pools are, but "slightly smaller" is the only answer I have found.

This image may help. The first row of trees surrounding each pool marks the "true" footprint of the tower, so anyone standing next to the pools would indeed be standing in the footprint of the tower.
