My visit will actually be at the end of June carrying over to early July before I move onwards to England.
Places that are so far locked in are Aalborg and Copenhagen at this time.
Good choices

Ærø? hmm... it's located in the sea south of Funen island - it's ~4 hour trip each way from Copenhagen with multiple types of pt, so it can be done, but I'm not sure if it's worth it..

To my knowledge ( never having been there ) it's bascially just another Danish island - no major viking relations nor sights that the rest of the islands doesn't have either - so unless there's a specific thing dragging you there ( many foreigners go to get married there for some reason ) you might want to pick day tours closer by so that the entire day doesn't go with transportation..

( if interested in Vikings the city of Roskilde ( a 22min trainride from downtown Copenhagen ) has a Vikingship museum that also have some replicas ships in the habour : http://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/ alternatively the National Museum in Copenhagen ( free admission ) have a fair share about Vikings too : http://en.natmus.dk/museums/the-nati...-for-tourists/ )

Don't expect tropical tempertures ( in late June that water should be between 15-18C ) but on a sunny day there's certainly no problem in going for a swim..
