New York's system of water taxis has been pretty successful. If we want this to be a feasible commuting option, the price needs to decrease to $2 - $3 per ride, so it isn't some novelty tourist option (but, as you note, at $10, this is competitive with Uber to go to Alexandria or Georgetown).

If a transit option requires spending $20+ per rider in government subsidies then clearly it is not very effective and should be cancelled.
