Pacifica
2012.09.03

Pacifica is a small town / suburb just south of San Francisco proper. The north end borders Daly City and isn’t anything spectacular, just more of the hilly, perpetually foggy suburbia that we tend to associate with Daly City. The southern end and portions along the coast, however, offer some of the best “beach town” atmosphere you’ll find in the core of the Bay Area, just a short BART and bus ride away from the city. With the rugged, picturesque coastline and an extensive, interconnected series of open space and parkland, I’ve enjoyed going here for urban hikes, from the beaches down by the water, ascending the coastal bluffs, and climbing up to the ridges that make up the northern extremities of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Pacifica is also a popular surf spot, and the weather is mostly pleasant this time of year, although the fog tends to come rolling in around 4:00 or 4:30 pm.

It’s about 15-20 minutes on the bus to get to Pacifica.
