My opinion on the whole "density" thing... is that the actual urban "environments" of Cincinnati are denser than St. Louis... but the overall "area" of the City of Cincinnati is less dense... because much of the city features rugged terrain. But if you actually look at the places where neighborhoods were built... Cincy wins.

Gentle cities like St. Louis could build uniformly medium-high density neighborhoods... while hilly cities like Cincy have a mix of high-density and low-density rustic hillside areas.
