There's a real-estate business running in CB that caters to the German market. They're buying up a lot of the waterfront property on the island, especially around the Bras D'Or Lake. The Louisbourg golf resort/upscale housing project is also financed by a German real-estate company (I can't remember if it's the same one). I know there are similar trends, at least on the single family home level, happening throughout rural mainland NS. I'll try to find the company name and edit it in here.
Edit: Ah yes, Cape Breton Island Developers (I think they also run the real estate company marketing the land to prospective buyers from Germany). I don't know how to link to a specific post, but it's mentioned in the
