Eversendai to build part of Dubai Mall

STRUCTURAL steel construction firm, Eversendai Corp (M) Sdn Bhd, has won a RM130 million contract to build part of the world's largest mall dubbed the Dubai Mall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Group managing director Datuk A. K. Nathan said Eversendai was awarded the job by Alico Ltd, a Dubai-based company, earlier this year.
"The Dubai Mall is a unique structure which has got its own complexity. It needs innovative construction methodology," said Nathan.
The multi-storey glass facade mall will offer some five million sq ft of commercial property, accommodating over 1,000 individual shops in between 10 and 15 distinct "malls-within-a mall" concept.
It will have a mixture of sophisticated retail and luxury leisure facilities including the world's largest indoor gold souq, food court, waterfront atrium and oasis fountain, among others.
The Downtown Dubai District, the biggest urban development in the Middle East, will also feature the Burj Dubai, which will be the world's tallest tower, the Residences, Burj Dubai boulevard and lake park, Burj Dubai Lake hotel and service apartments and a business hub.
