We have our first detailed look at the ongoing construction of the new rail cars for the EAGLE Project, courtesy of RTD!

As many of you may have seen in a recent Denver Business Journal article, the 50 cars that will be used along the East, Gold, and Northwest corridors are currently under construction in South Korea by Hyundai-Rotem. Want to see the first of 50 rail cars that will go through metro Denver on the $2.1 billion FasTracks Eagle P3 project rail lines?...

...They will run from downtown to Denver International Airport, Wheat Ridge and Westminster, and are being built now in a South Korea manufacturing plant, which is where these photos were shot.
Officials from the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and Denver Transit Partners (DTP) are in South Korea this week meeting with officials from Hyundai-Rotem, a division of the Hyundai Motor Group, and inspecting the first rail cars being built...

...The shell of the rail cars will be built in South Korea, then taken apart and shipped to a Hyundai-Rotem assembly plant in Philadelphia. There, they will be reassembled and completed.
At least 60 percent of the vehicles will be manufactured in the United States, according to RTD.
The cars are expected to start arriving in Philadelphia in August 2013, and start arriving in Denver in the first or second quarter of 2014, said DTP spokeswoman Laura Rinker.
The line from downtown to DIA is expected to be open to the public in January 2016.
