New 40-acre music/festival/event venue coming to north downtown at Western Railyard. It will be called the Yards at Western Rail.
"The company behind the elaborate renovation of the Kress building and other Dexter Avenue projects bought the lot full of towering brick-and-steel structures and originally planned to use it as a construction site."
They have began renovating some of the buildings and one will house restrooms and control facilities. A smaller brick building to be used as a ticket booth.
"A towering structure behind the main shed will be enclosed so it can host indoor events ranging from smaller concerts to weddings."
"It’s a place he thinks can bring foot traffic from downtown hotels and, eventually, cause beach-goers to change their plans and get off the interstate to attend events."
