I still don't understand how this stuff isn't funded by oil wealth. The original Dubai Hotel was. There are thousands of square miles of unused desert...they don't need the density of 100's of 80+ story buildings. It must be that they are planning for a future when the ME runs out of oil and they will be the ones left standing.
