I think this list seem to reflect why Vancouver aerial shots tend to look so dense.

Certainly downtown has a lot of towers but when you consider that Vancouver on the that list isn't mention till #60 it shows how few building dominate others. There is very little variance in the height or footprint of Vancouver buildings. This results in making the skyline look so large from the air...............there are no tall or thick buildings to block out other buildings near it. From the air you can see all the buildings as opposed to Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary were so many buildings are hidden by much taller and larger buildings surrounding it.

In Toronto from the air there are so many buildings that you can't even see even though in Vancouver they would be very large.
