I do wish Quebec a Happy Birthday; however, it's disgraceful that for the sake of potential votes, our Conservative Government is rewritting history in saying that Quebec is the oldest city in Canada. St. John's, Newfoundland was discovered in 1497 and officially started the British Empire in 1583, and at this time settlement was long underway in St. John's.
It's a great feat, a beautiful city, but Quebec is not the oldest city in Canada, not by about 112 years...

^It might be a technicality - I believe Quebec City was the first to be a permanent settlement from Europe. I don't think anyone is forgetting the history of St John's and Cabot...anyway, there were aboriginals living here (Canada) thousands of years before that.
Regardless, it's a big milestone for la belle province's Capital. Wish I could make it to join some celebrations!
