I've never seen that type of architecture. Is it relatively exclusive to Poland? It almost reminds me of Disneyland.

This is the formerly German city of Breslau. As you may realize, big pieces of Germany were taken as war booty by the Soviet Union in 1945, most given to Poland and some to the SU itself. So the older buildings are German, although probably reconstructed. Stalin took big chunks of Poland to award to Ukraine and Belarus, so the German territory was given to Poland in compensation.

Poland scored with this town. Too bad Belarus and Ukraine gangked parts of Ptown, that blows. Weird how we never think about how all that went down. Why is Ukraine so poor still, didn't they have buttloads of steel mills and breadbasket status? They are so poor their women are prostitutes all over the world... sorry off topic

Ukraine is so poor because most of ukrainians are stupid, lazy, agressive, greedy, wicked, angry. 99% of Ukraine belongs only to 1% of people, or maybe lower than 1%. For other 99% of people almost no chances for going up.

Thanks for the info Boroda. This city really does look great, I've heard Poland has really improved in the last 10 years have you noticed that?

Oh and I swear I didn't even notice that you live in Ukraine until just now. Are you from there? So Poland doesn't engage in as much human trafficking and wicked stuff as Ukraine I would assume. I would love to hear your thoughts on these kinds of things. I will actually be moving to Tbilisi in two weeks and I may be in Ukraine to do a little business. I will check out your other photo threads.

Cool thread! I love seeing these lesser-known cities pop up on SSP. Interestingly enough, I traced the German side of my family to Wrocław the day this thread was posted.

You are welcome. Yes, this city looks very good, and very colorful - you will see that at the next photos in this thread. And about improving in Poland - maybe it contains to Polish economics. But if to say about how the country looks - I think in the last 10 years almost no changes to better.

After including Poland to European Union a lot of people moved to find a better future outside Poland. A lot of engineers, doctors, intelligence from Poland moved to Germany, Austria, UK. And at their places in Poland Ukrainian intelligence came So, the population of Ukraine is going down. I think one day my country will invite a lot of immigrants from Africa and Asia, as all the western Europe did after WW2 by USA sample

Pretty sad how the Allies let Stalin get away with shifting the Polish border and creating a colossal refugee crisis. The forced removal of millions of Germans and any German culture from these territories is an atrocity that gets paid very little attention. Most people don’t realize that Poland ceded about a third of their eastern territory to the Soviets while taking about a quarter of Germany’s land area. Crazy.

They weren't valid to change anything. The western leaders only though about how to catch a part of territories occupied by Germany, which already loose the war.

Germans have to say THANKS to Stalin that he let them stay alive after their terrible crime against humanity.

Soviet Union just returned back to itself historical Ukrainian and Belorussian territories.
