googlemap toronto downtown vision

I was just doodling with photoshop out of boredom at work, but this is my view for downtown. Basically, it illustrates high-rise development on bathurst, which would give downtown a new dimension. UofT, OCAD and Chinatown would be enclosed by a ring of highrises, yet the neighbourhoods in ther immediate surroundings would remain unaltered.
What do you think?

You should put a canal around downtown and rename it "Manhattan"!

Looks like you've just envisioned a Bathurst subway line, which is overdue in my mind.

Interesting idea, however I think development of the type/scale you've pictured on Bathurst is more likely to happen on the east side of the "core" of the city.

I would imagine moving forward your style of development will be more likely in the King/Parliament, Eastern/Cherry Street areas rather than in the west. Look at the Regent Park re-development project as an example. I saw just the other day they were opening an RBC and a Tim Hortons on Parliament north of Dundas; both good for urban renewal.

The current land use on the eastern side of the core lends itself to that style of development versus Bathurst. This said, I think your idea is creative and cudos for posting it.
