Construction Updates for July 5, 2011 (Click on the thumbnails for larger photos)
The first stop on today's tour is in historic Wortley Village. At 162 Wortley Rd, a new building is being built. A rendering has been attached, and looks like a promising project. Needless to say, I will be following it very closely.
Next is "Phase II" of the Renaissance development at York and Ridout. The second story's exterior is almost complete, as work on the third floor starts.
At 431 Richmond, future home to Shoppers Drug Mart and offices, progress continues on the walls. Soon we will be seeing windows and masonry work taking place.
Taking King St. out of downtown will lead us to Medallion Developments' Old East project. The first story of the 15-floor "tower" is now being worked on. Also balcony doors are now installed on the first level. You can also see windows ready to be installed for the second floor. And notice the blue tape between the first and second story? I'm assuming that's for cladding?
Steps away is 637 Dundas St. where a 3-fl/9-fl development is taking place. The part facing Dundas (3 floors), is well under way. The bottom section of the crane is in place, and has been for a few days.
Simpseatles suggested I take some photos of the new Ivey Expansion at UWO. On the way there, I decided to stop by Piccadilly Park and take some photos of the new enhancements.
After that brief stop, we have now arrived at the new Ivey Expansion at UWO on Western Road. Looks like a welcome addition to UWO's campus.
Last on our stop, also suggested by Simpseatles, is the new Stoney Creek Community Centre on Sunningdale Rd. I must say that this building really impressed me and turned out just like the renders.
On a side note, when I was on Sunningdale Rd, on my way to the community centre, between Richmond and Adelaide, I captured this shot of downtown. With a better camera, this would be a great location for skyline shots.
If there is a certain construction project you'd like me to get a picture of, let me know.
