Baltimore 'hoods: Guilford (not the expected)

guilford:

This is what I love about Baltimore; it's full of surprises. The neighborhood of Guilford in the north of Baltimore is not what you'd expect in the Charm City. Absent are the endless blocks of formstone row homes, cheesy crab logos, and abandoned properties. In this upscale and historic district there are beautiful single homes with manicured lawns and carefully cultivated gardens. The neighborhood dates from the early twentieth century with Colonial and Georgian Revival styles predominating. So don't get crabby if you're looking for gritty urban blight: this is the ultimate in B-more luxury living, baby!

Those are some gorgeous houses! Reminds me of Central Gardens and Chickasaw Gardens in Memphis.

Now that's a beautiful neighborhood. Wouldn't mind living in one of those places, as long as someone else does all the yard work! Reminds me of that TV commercial about 5 years ago where the two guys walk up to mansion and say "I could live here".

Looks like the fraternal twin of DC's Chevy Chase and Tenleytown nabes in the Upper NW!

Nice pictures. Guilford looks like Wawaset Park or the Highlands in Wilmington, except with some even bigger houses mixed in.

Nice shots, Swiney! It reminds me of neighborhoods like Chestnut Hill, Overbrook Farms, Northwood, and Wynnefield here in Philly.

...Speaking of, which of those is it demographically closest to?

Thanks Hammer, et al. It actually reminded me of Mt. Airy a little and Chestnut Hill. Demographically it's closer to Chestnut Hill.

It seemed more Chestnut Hill to me.

These folks get two chimneys to go with their two solariums and two horses - Snoopy and Prickly Pete.
