Thunder Bay's mayor is probably the least absurd thing about the city, so that in itself is quite absurd, I think.

The current mayor of St. John's is boring. His predecessor Andy Wells was great though! He was a nominee for "Craziest Mayor in Canada" and had been describe by Danny Williams as being "as ignorant as a pig". He was quite rude and outspoken. He told Shannie Duff, who is the current deputy mayor but who served with Wells for years as a councillor and mayor, that he would piss on her grave!

Ha! Andy Wells. He may of been a complete nut job but boy was he entertaining. O'Keefe may be boring, but after Wells boring is a bit of a relief.

I am not familiar with the term obsurd. Is it shorthand for Obstinately absurd?

I'd say "shitty", but one of the 101 Canada mods would lock and delete my thread upon sight.

Sam Katz, the WIZ of the 'Peg

Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION
Katz recuses himself from water-park vote

By: Staff Writer

Posted: 11:36 AM

"Mayor Sam Katz confirmed he will recuse himself from voting on a city plan to offer a $7-million grant to a private developer to build a water park."

[...]

Full story: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/bre...147770235.html

Well, who would have thunk....!

For the past couple of weeks Katz has been stirring the pot on this piece of property at the Forks. Since he opened his baseball park across the street he used and abused this piece of property as he saw fit. He's been using this property as a plank to gain civic support from fellow councilors. When his straw poll revealed that the in-favors were 5 - 1, he decided that he should recuse himself from voting on the proposed offer of development.

What a dink!

I would like to see the vote come to a 3 - 3 tie and see him spew his guts at his asinine attempt at valor. Katz, if you were looking for valor among thieves, go fall on a paper staple.

Considering I was thinking of Rob Ford, the first thing that came to my mind was obese and absurd!

Toss Gregor "The Green" Robertson onto that pile. A good old fashioned, developer-funded pol, hiding his whoredom behind greenwashing drivel like homeless shelters for unwanted backyard chickens (no lie).

Oh yes, the media-friendly, LRT-loving mayor of Toronto!

I'd be tempted to put Gérald Tremblay in this category but then again, I'm not a Montrealer so perhaps his perceived incompetence all the way from Quebec city is exagerated...

And the embarrassment continues...

CBC Toronto ‏ @CBCToronto
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says he won't attend Pride Parade

CP24 ‏ @CP24
Mayor Ford says he's going to his cottage w/ his family on weekend of Pride parade, as is his family's tradition.

Sure it is.. Wasn't it a barbecue last year?

I love how SSPers bashes a populist mayor (who actually somewhat respects individual liberty despite making promises he can't keep and barely taking any action at all) yet ignore the Corporate owned Feds who continue to infringe on the constitution/charter. Canada already rivals the US as one of the biggest Orwelian Authoritarian states in the Western World. Canadians have yet to wake up. Give me one good reason for Harper's military spending (i.e recent billion dollar brand new Jets purchase)? There are zero foreign threats to Canada. Why is Canada overseas?

This reminds me of a really good argument about the war in Afghanistan that I heard on local talk radio once:

"Why are we in Afghanistan? Like, what are we doing there. We shouldn't be—shh, someone is coming... I have to go."

So eloquent. The CBC is very good at choosing which of its callers get to voice opinions on things!

Politicians don't get personal lives. That's why they're called "public figures". They're supposed to represent their city. Rob Ford is really bad at doing that, and therefore is a bad mayor. Attending major events in the city is part of the job description of being mayor. He was going to have to give up that weekend to attend pride and he knew that before he got the job. If he didn't know that, then he doesn't deserve the job.

Not suprised. This happens whether it's the "liberal" CBC or "conservative" Rush Limbaugh. They're all the same NWO puppet mainstream.

I never said Rob Ford deserved the job. I can only think of one politician that would.
