I don't get like half the American state stereotypes.

Connecticut is "New Italy"? Connecticut is probably the least Italian-American state in its immediate vicinity. It's traditionally very WASP and Northern European. Or is it referring to something else?

And why is New York "Apple"? Because of the Big Apple? Upstate apple production?

Or what's with Arizona and Wonder Woman? Iowa and Hawks?

Actually, given how clueless, ignorant, uneducated, and poorly-traveled the average American is, most of the international stereotypes are probably not too far off the mark. Still, some
of these stereotypes seem a bit off, and have little basis in reality.

I don't think Midwesterners and southern Hillbillies constitute for even half the U.S. population, but you may be right.

It is funny that this stereotype exists when the rural northeast out rednecks large swathes of the Midwest. People never talk about New York as a hick state with a couple of urban enclaves but in some ways that's what it is. Iowa, on the other hand, is not particularly redneck.
