Luxembourg City - Like you, only richer

Very Parisian facade:

Luxembourg

Scooter:

More Frenchesque facades...the interesting thing about Luxembourg is that it's essentially a German province. The local dialect sounds quite German. But at some point they decided that it was just more fashionable to be French. That means most Luxembourgers have a German last and a French first name (see prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker)...

Luxembourg

Gelle Fra war monument:

Court buildings, built just a couple of years ago. Looks quite traditional though:

Place Guillaume II, heart of the city:

Gelle Fra war monument again:

Some bank...I think. Although that's a safe guess in LUX:

Yeah, I'll upload some more during the coming days. Didn't take that many pics since it was sweltering (for European standards...30°C!!!).

lovely place, I went there a few years back. I was surprised at what a spectacular setting the city has, all ravines and hills and rivers, skyscrapers, alleyways and hilltowns.

Nice to see a place not posted on SSP very often. So clean and neat.

Is that a tram of sorts on the bridge?

Thanks for the tour.

It's this kind of tram:

Moving on to the city's "Grund" quarter, located in the valley of the city and full of relatively old architecture:

My mother still tells stories from when she lived in Luxembourg to this day- how lovely and beautiful it was. I love older European cities like this, the density and architecture just can't be replicated. I look forward to more Luxembourg! Great photos, thanks.

Nice set. Luxembourg City is a beautiful blend of Hausmann and Gründerzeit. (The guy with the gray sandals definitely isn't American, btw.)

Your pics are stylish as always!

Need to visit Luxembourg more often instead of just driving through it. Been there a couple of times but it was long ago...
