Thumbs up

I'm speechless. I could not have imagined a better design. The location could not get better, and the height(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) taller than Chrysler! I did not see this one coming in regards to the height. This is just a fantastic surprise that just made my month of November. This tower is architectural innovation at its best.

Yet another 1,000+ footer for New York to add on the chalkboard.

I've been to the location many times and have always thought that though the surrounding buildings (of this tower) don't break the skyline, they are still pretty damn tall. This building is going to make a HUGE impact of the Midtown Skyline.

Once again:

The NIMBY's have no business in that part of Manhattan.

I wish I knew if this project was as of right, because if it is, the NIMBY's can complain all they want, but it wouldn't matter.

I cannot wait until I have to deal with those people (being that I'm planning to be a developer).

You could have easily tricked me into believing this was a Foster design. Nevertheless, I think it's brilliant. It's an exciting time for New York.

Foster's design rely much more on symmetry, structure, geometry.

Gotham has returned to splendor! I like how it is dark and beckoning yet very beautiful, the essence of New York in a building designed by a French architecht. Thank you for the Statue of Liberty and thank you again for this design, it is sublime.

LOL @ JACKinNYC. It does actually look like some tower out of a SciFi story.

Jularc - thanks for that pix... It's on a respirator!!

This building is nothing short of monumentally stunning - from the base to the summit!! As if Foster's Hearst Building were stretched thin to a point. My office is just to the east of this gem; it'll be a joy to watch this one boldly step into the skyline.

BTW, first post and discovery of this great site and I have this beauty of an edifice to credit; after reading the Times' article I did a search and voila!!

Cheers.
