Bay Area Caltrain, Part two

Redwood City (pop 79,000)

Redwood Shores

Foster City, CA (pop 28,803)

San Mateo (pop 92,482)

Let's start with a few views from the hills....looking at Stanford with San Jose in the far background...

...downtown Oakland...

...San Mateo...

...San Francisco...

...and SFO...

Bonus: Half Moon Bay (pop 11,842)

Not anywhere near Caltrain, but, in San Mateo County along the coast. I will try and add some additional photos of the beach here.

Living downtown, I'm getting to see all these places they mention on the traffic reports but I've never seen.

They all look pretty nice. I guess that's why the entry fee (for a house) is $1M.

Great shots, I really do like the peninsula, if youve got the $1m its not a bad place to plant yourself. SF just up the road. Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, Santa Cruz all pretty close.....not bad.

I was always under the impession that the peninsula was a sprawling ugly mess, but I never new it had this nice of a side to it. Thanks for sharing.

You are the man! You're capturing so many great little slices of life around the bay. If someone just drives up and down 101 (or 880 for that matter) they'd have no idea all the little hidden gems there are to find all over the place. The Bay Area isn't just a collection of suburbs radiating from San Francisco. It's mostly a collection of towns of various sizes that have grown into each other over the years. But almost all of them still have their heart in a main street commercial district with a nice number of historic buildings in place. Bravo, stepper, for bringing so many of these to light.

The real scourge on all these areas is the office park. Yuck. It could be worse, of course, i.e. the South Bay... Fortunately, these downtowns along the Peninsula are pretty nice. San Mateo is a gem, and Redwood seems to be doing pretty well with that new TOD.
