I'm not trying to say anything about scrapernerd's eating habits, but most low-income Wal-Mart shoppers don't eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Even still, Wal-Mart's prices on just about everything, produce included, are cheaper than anywhere else. The quality sucks, but the prices are pretty competitive.

I'm not sure of the history of this building, but this 6-story building that has been half completed for years appears to finally be turning into something:

I wish they'd add the Redman sign to the top, which was on the original building.

I drove by it today and there is a "Redman" sign at the top on the east side of the building.

What is "Redman"? What is the story behind the building? Is it new or a rehab of an existing building?

The sign they had before was much bigger.

Redman is a movie company that used to be located out of that building until they moved to the west side of the city a few years ago.

It is not a new building, it's been there pretty much for as long as I can remember. Here is the original, with the original sign.

Right before the rehab:

Here's another site for that project with some more attractive pics. It's actually a very cool rehab that they've accomplished.

Small update...
So my wife and I were driving down 2100 up in Sugarhouse last night and we notice there is now a deep hole on that Mix-use project site. I'm guessing for underground parking. But there looks like there are still a few more store fronts crews need to tear down.
Also we really like the "Redman Condos" just up the street. There is a sign on top of the building.

Looks like I have to pay to view the story. Could someone post the story on here?

What 40,000K? what a waste of tax money. Is this the best the city can do with 40,000k? Don't get me wrong I like the idea of it. Just not having to pay almost 7K for each concrete couch. I'm sure there's better things the city would need more with that kind of money.

Social spaces, such as benches, are definitely worth the investment!

I think you would also be surprised how much a generic bench that wouldn't add to the appeal or character of the area might cost...

Benches and other gathering places can be great amenities but only when placed in appropriate locations. Too many are placed along streets to do nothing but look pretty. This part of Sugar House is a great place for one...though admittedly I am not a fan of the concrete couch.

I agree 100% with both.

I read The Enterprise today at the library. These are the Urbana on 11th Condos, mentioned earlier on this or another forum. They will be priced $200k-225k. This should be a great project in a great location.

This is a remodel of a building just west of Smiths. The address is 2148 S 900 E. I think its good to see more commercial development along this portion of 900 E. There is a lot more potential in this area.

Is this going to replace the building where the Russian restaurant was located? I do miss Rasputin, (the restaurant not the man) though admittedly I will not miss the generic building it was housed in.

From what I can tell, it is a remodel and reuse of that building.
