Jane Jacobs' Neighbourhood

"The Annex" is a desirable Victorian neighbourhood in Toronto. I wanted to look at some Toronto
housing so these pictures focus on the residential areas, but there are a few pics from the commercial
area on Bloor. I found the neighbourhood to have good density, elegant streetscapes and a very wide
variety of great housing.

Great pictures Flar! This is a excellent neighborhood tour.

It reminds me of our Shadyside here in Pittsburgh.

This one is (or was) her actual house. Not sure which unit, but one of these.

Very nice. I recently took some pictures of hew New York neighborhood, including the house she lived in when she wrote Death and Life, but they're still on my computer waiting to be photoshopped.

Great pictures - lots of handsome Victorian architecture in attractive vernacular styles (and one or two houses that were so English-looking!) - the neighbourhood looks like a smashing area!

That's not it, but the house she lived in is pictured here. I'll let you guys keep guessing.

I walked by it every day for three years. It's the one I pointed out. I've even seen her walking in and out.

no, those are on Walmer. She lived on Albany... her house is the one on the right:

Great photos, flar. I lived in an apartment building adjacent to those low-rise apartments you photographed on St. George (the photo above the St.George street sign). I had a great view of Casa Loma from up there. I hope you don't mind me sharing some of those photos here:

The hill Casa Loma sits on was actually the crest of an ancient lake (Lake Iroquois it was called).
