Nice update pictures! I like this new format where the buildings under 500' are in a different section. There were too many of them clogging up the page.

You should mention that in the forum issues section, most people aren't liking it.

Although I preferred it before, I don't really care either way since I rarely visit this section.

Certification - An office tower under construction in the city's downtown is the first highrise office building in Canada to be pre-certified in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Core and Shell (LEED-CS) development program.

Eighth Avenue Place is a 49-storey tower at the former site of the Penny Lane Mall.

LEED-CS is sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council, North America's leading authority for environmentally responsible buildings.

Eighth Avenue Place was pre-certified at the Gold level based on design plans. The project is expected to be completed by early 2011.

doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me (designs change) however I guess its no worse than certifying a temporary building (sales centre)

I think the second tower has always been planned to be built, it'll probably come later on, or is this right away?

As long as they build one of the towers, I'll be happy. I'd actually prefer they just built the one, as we have so many twin towers anyway.

why does calgary build 2 buildings that look the same but different height why? are they trying to beat a record? im surprised there isnt a smaller version of Bow.

Architects in this city like twins (Western Canadian Place, Bankers Hall, Petro Canada, Centennial Place). One of the early rumors for the Bow was a 2 tower design that if it had gone further likely would have been a twin also.

Though in some ways EAP is unique, its actually a resurrected proposal from Atlanta (or appears that way, someone pointed out in another thread that one of the firms involved was also involved in a proposal in Atlanta that looked eerily similar).

I think in that last photo we might be looking at the start of the crane base.

Atleast I hope so, seeing a crane is a good sign for a project.

Correct, it was reported in the Calgary Crane thread that there is indeed a base in that corner now.
