Great shots Skeeter! Looks like a lovely addition. That's cool that there is a theater and museum at the base.

Wow, those aerials are impressive, thanks. It gives a good overview of the tower and surrounding arts projects together. I'm jealous!

I think the coolest thing about this project is the entrance from Martin Luther King Dr...... It will be the underground right below the AACC.

Cool updates. What's that building that's also UC in the upper left corner of the second to last photo above? (the one up one block and across the street from Wachovia)

That Novare's Catalyst condos I think 27 floors. They building a parking deck, and are starting a 16 floor office building. They also have a proposal for a Twelve condo/hotel tower even taller than Catalyst.

Thanks for the info. I'm getting lost trying to keep up with all the projects UC or proposed in Charlotte, there are so many of them! You guys already have a cool skyline that's only going to get better, that's for sure.

You need to stop by. The bar scene has grown dramatically, and on Thursdays we have Alive After 5 at 2 locations..... the regular Wachovia Plaza and the new Epicentre Plaza.

Dale Jr's bar is nice too. Its not redneck, or country. It is a nice big bar at the Epicentre.

The Bank of America block is going up fast downtown too. Balfour Beatty is doing that one.

That grey building near Wachovia looks like something out of Japan. Strange but cool. Last time I was in Charlotte was when the BofA was just rising.

Update 6/28/08 -

Betcher Museum (will eventually be terra cotta) and the Knight Theater behind it.

From the same spot, looking left. The Mint Museum and condo tower will be just to the right of the office tower.

The African-American Cultural Center is in the foreground.

Seen from the site of the NASCAR Hall of Fame construction, in front of the convention center.

From across I-277 on Morehead St.

From the Stonewall light rail station. You can see the African-American Cultural Center in front of the Wachovia Tower.

Update 8/2/08 -

Here is a photo from the Charlotte Observer. It was taken from the top of the Catalyst condo tower and shows the Wachovia tower and arts complex:

A few new renderings of Wachovia:

Here are a few renderings of the new Knight Theater, part of the Wachovia Arts complex. The theater will seat about 1,150 and will feature a large class curtain on the front:

The Knight Theater, seen here behind the Betchler Art Museum, has framing going up for the glass curtain.

You can see the terra cotta siding being placed on the Betcher:

View from The Green:

More glass panels going up:

From the backside, you can see the Knight and Betcher, and the giant hole where the Mint Museum and condo tower are going:
