And in DEstruction news, the Siemens building at 17th & Northside Dr is mostly dismantled. There's still a lot there, but it's nothing compared to what's been demolished.

Also, I can't believe how much better the crown on the Atlantic looks compared to the one on MOP. Just proves MOP could have been much better.

As for the ASO (see avatar), I'm dissapointed that the Calatrava hall seems doomed. However, as a person who lived without a single credit card for 40 years, I was familiar with having to live without the things I couldn't pay for. I'm excited that we could have another landmark on Peachtree, but it's hard to imagine squeezing in a concert hall where the current circle drive is. My understanding is that the interior of the main auditorium will remain relatively unchanged, regardless of the architect, because it was designed by Kirkegaard (sp?) to be accoustically superior.

Anyone have access to the layout of the master plan? Renderings. Lots of 'em. Now.

And speaking of the Atlantic....the webcam has been down since February 24. Don't think Novare is doing too well.

That's a common misconception. In reality, the suburbs tend to be the cradle of the creative class. Many of our greatest writers (Updike, Cheever, etc.) have made their mark chronicling the incredible complexity and variety of suburban life.

well, you can't defend yourself against somebody as violent and stupid as that criminal.

i always think i'm safe in my condo because "a criminal wouldn't want to be caught on tape".

well, this guy CAME BACK to the condo after shopping for gifts at AS.

she might have been more cautious but how do you stop somebody that dumb and that violent?

BTW not too suprised the Atlantic's still up there seeing as the 46th president will be on office before the "facade" work is finished. That sh-t better be good when finished.

Although it perpetuates a misconception I had: That Two Alliance Center was going to be taller. I guess I just drew from the rendering, instead of the actual height, because I was very surprised when they topped it off. It seems a bit squatty. Of course, given the economy, they are probably relieved not to have more floors to fill.

Some time ago there was discussion on views from the highrises. I noticed the other day while waiting for the light at 10th and Piedmont that a good part of 1010 is visable through the opening between Loew's and the office tower. It should still allow for a good number of condo's in 1010 to have a nice view looking eastward through them even when that portion of the project is completed.

There is an interview on the 1010 website that discusses this. That is also one of the realtors big sells if you go to peruse the condo selection... The fact that the same developer owns several adjacent lots means they can work other buildings around the views. I was told on my tour, every condo has a view of either the park or midtown or downtown and will continue to even after the new phases go up b/c it was master planned that way. Though I guess that is what they told people in 12 Atl Station.

The news about new skyscrapers in Atlanta is going to be very ,very sparse this year. Folks, the conditions on the ground are bad and they won't be getting any better anytime soon.

However, there are some things that will presage the begining of the next wave: 1400 Peachtree will most likely be the next skyscraper to come out of the ground. The MXD has the hotel component locked up; the office should/could be with IHC,the parent company of the hotel . all that is left are the condo's. And that, along with general credit conditions may be the biggest hold-up. So when this baby announces , there could be cause for joy on this board. But untill then, you might want to find another hobby.

Out of all the ones on hold, I see 1400 as being very helpful in bridging the gap between midtown/south buckhead/atlantic station.
