Many of the homes in Glenwood Park were built by Ottawa builders Assaly and Johannsen, who teamed up to built a series of homes called "Trend Homes" in the 60s and 70s. These same homes can be found in Ottawa's Trend Village and Southeast of Woodroffe and Meadowlands. The following posting on my blog features some of the Trend Home plans: http://modernrealtor.blogspot.com/search/label/Assaly

Below is an article from the magazine "Home Building In Canada" from the late 1950s, which features homes in "Glenwood Domaine". At the time the area was also know as Hull South. The quality of the images is poor, but I think they are clear enough to read!

Which streets in particular? I have some, but not all, of the plans for the houses in that area.

Ah yes, that area does have some great mid-century modern homes. Most were built by Minto. I will do a posting on my blog in the next few days with some of my favourite plans from that area!

I have a similar question - we recently moved to the area of Blossom Park and are trying to find out who built our house. Apparently it was built around 1986 and is located at St.Bernard/Sixth Street. Called the city to ask but they can't seem to locate the building permit... help?

I can't really help other than that all the houses on that block were built about the same time. You will note that all of them have significantly different designs. I am just wondering whether they were all custom built. Have you spoken to any of your neighbours? You might find an original owner who can help you.

One thing you might be able to do is look at the land registry office and trace the ownership of the parcel. There is a good chance that the developer also owned the land prior to subdivision.

My parents bought a house around then in that area (Trappers Road by the park) and it was Tartan, if that helps.

The Eastern part of Greenboro was built by Richcraft Homes. Not sure to what percentage as there is usually a mix, but a lot of the stuff near the Conroy Rd notably around Johnston and Lorry Greenberg areas. Also across Conroy around Blohm and Karsh was mainly Richcraft Homes.

LRT sometimes neighbourhoods are built with a mix of deverlopers. A street may have 5 Urbandale Homes, 5 Cardels, 5 Richcraft, 5 Claridge, 5 Urbandale. Can't say it's always a mix but I know it gets done sometimes.
