Not sure exactly what you're referring to, but wrt the white covering over the lower seats, that covering originally covered the entire lower bowl, so whatever treatment is being done under there is likely the same for both halves of the lower bowl.

As for the walkway, I think you might be referring to the white metal sections with handrails? It looks like those are pieces of the walkway which will be suspended from the cables where the retractable part of the roof meets the non-opening part. I think they are just storing the pieces of that walkway on the lower bowl seats for now until they can lift them up to the cables.

Haha exactly what I thought. Speaking of which...

I have been stalking this thread as a guest for months as I am obsessed with this BC Place project.

And... if anyone is attending this BC Place info session downtown on Thursday PLEASE somebody bring up the following:

Why is the opening so small? It isn't even the size of a CFL field (length wise, judging by pictures, stats and scales it appears the width is fine).

I even have my doubts that it will entirely cover the field of play for Whitecap games.

OTHER than that, I really have no complaints with this project. The Commerzbank Arena due to its transparent roof and the glass rim around the stadium lets in a tremendous amount of light. I am assuming ours will be very similar in that regard.

The new seating, jumbotron and all the renovations look like they will be terrific.

But somebody please if you are attending question the size of the opening, and I am also very curious if it is possible to leave it open in bad weather for football. Football (and maybe soccer too) was meant to be played in any weather.

I believe the opening is the size it is so that it will cover the fans, so that even if it is raining and the opening is.. open, people sitting in the stands won't get wet.

Roof opening size: I actually brought this up at an earlier open house with one of the architects, he told me there was a limitation to the size of the retractable roof because of weight limitations when it was compacted (open roof).

That makes sense. I was just surprised they couldn't add a few more yards at each end.

I believe the reason is that the shape of the opening, scaled from same shape as the exterior (by necessity), causes the end zones to be still covered. I agree it would have been nice to have the complete football field exposed. Hopefully when experienced in person we won't notice it being a factor.

Oh man that new glass makes a big difference. It's coming together fast now.

It looks like there's way more glass or is it just me?

Someone else posted about colour blocking for sections of the seats - the samples seats are probably just side-by-side as one of each colour.

I see white tarps now on the Pacific Blvd. side entrance area, are they adding awnings here like the new addition near the Terry Fox Plaza?

Nice! Looks more and more like spaceship.

That's the side where the casino complex would have interfaced / connected to the stadium. The decision to renovate that side with glazing on the ramps is likely confirmation that Paragon will not proceed with a move of the existing-sized casino to a new building on that site.

Hopefully a new proposal won;t butt the new bulding up to the stadium and will maybe just link with overhead walkways to preserve the perimeter walkway around the stadium. That was one thing I didn't like about the casino proposal - it blocked the walkway around the stadium.

BC Place interior construction webcam

Hello all:

Just heard from PAVCO and "Duncan" informs me that the obstructed view from the interior construction webcam is a temporary measure and will be removed once the overhead work is completed.

Cheers
