Looks great, as long as they don't use the same glass they did on Epcor, it will be a winner.

Yeah that doesn't make any sense.

I saw the tower in Philly was just cancelled or confirmed dead a couple of days ago, and no one laughed at them.

I really hope you are sure about your sense of understanding, for it is obviously disenfranchised.

I am not going to laugh. When projects get cancelled anywhere, it is no laughing matter.

I didn't think my comment would have such a hostile reaction but I stand behind it. I also spent a big chunk of my life in Edmonton so I know it's not worth getting excited about a project until you've seen the finished product.

I'll repeat that because I'm disenfranchised according to some

Edmonton's allright but in edmonton...

it's not worth getting excited about a project until you've seen the finished product

PERIOD

Saying that a city will be the laughing stock of the forum because a project gets cancelled doesn't make any sense. Lots of projects have been cancelled in lots of cities all over the world, what with the economy being in the toilet and all.

just being proposed is something to be excited about. it shows the potential that the Alberta economy has. while most places in the world are having hard time's. places in canada like Edmonton and Calgary are having awesome skyscrapers such as this actually being considered. that in itself says allot about our healthy economy.

Is it the same architects (Pickard Chilton) behind the design?

BTW, great looking tower.

This is a nice looking tower. Any idea on the time line for ground breaking?

There are no firm dates (and this isn't a firm proposal yet) but some of the Edmonton forumers who are closer to AIMCo (the company that owns the site and officially stated they want to build a tower) said they would like to move ahead "sooner rather that later" and that there is strong interest. If they keep the tower podium as is (which was built back in the '80s to support a tower) then it will cut a lot of construction time. My guess is that it could start in 2012 (completed by 2013-14), but I have no official backing for that statement.

Looks like there might be new life in this project. The City put out a huge RFP for space, and my bet is that Manu2/Centre 102 has the best shot!
