Not many people see that view, the most common view day in day out is from the east, west, and North. Aside from the summer tourist/vacation season those ferries run few and far between mostly serving the 200 or so people who live on the Island.

The views that commonly move most people are from within the city itself. Toronto as seen from the Islands, from the docks along Cherry St. or from the spit is stunning, but most people see the city in isolated bits as they make their way down teeming streets like Yonge, Bloor, Queen, Bay... and yes, streets further out, like Roncey or Greenwood, (I'm thinking of certain vantage points up on the old shoreline where it's clear we're on a gigantic lake - something not always obvious, especially in places like the Financial district or up on Bloor).

I don't care what your chart says... which is full of it... but Toronto's GDP/capita is higher than Buffalo's, and the figure for Calgary (lower than Des Moines????) is much higher than Buffalo's... dream on. They also appear to be confusing personal income with GDP/capita.... they are not the same thing, which blows their credibility right away.

I'm sorry, but the numbers have to make sense for me to accept them... but they obviously don't.... Buffalo - the 19th highest gdp/capita in the world with Des Moines in 15th place? Yeah right. Actually, Des Moines income per capita (2009) was $23,545 : http://www.city-data.com/city/Des-Moines-Iowa.html

Toronto's average house hold income (2012) is $105,000, whereas Des Moines was $43,000 (2009 median). That makes a lot more sense. BTW, the figures for Calgary would be higher than those for Toronto.

Buffalo is so rich that it keeps losing population.

The joke is all on you.

Toronto's GDP per capita is $100,000 - $ 253 billion

Toronto GTA per capita GDP is $60,000 - $323 billion

People in Calgary are probably pretty pissed you uploaded a chart showing they average only 50 grand in take home pay. I thought Calgary was rich, what's up with that.

I think you are off too. The $253 billion is for the CMA, not the city.... and the $323 billion is probably for the Golden Horseshoe.... Show me your proof.

I think the US and Canada must count GDP differently... In the US if you by an item for $100 and then return it to the store and get a refund, that counts for $200 toward GDP. Whereas in Canada, when that happens, it counts for nothing toward GDP.

That makes sense since the GTA represents just under 1/5th the population of Canada, and Canada's GDP is $1.57 trillion.

Nope, you are wrong again. You have substituted "GTA" for what they are calling the "Toronto Region" which includes the Region of Waterloo, Hamilton and Wellington in their concept of the Toronto Region.... you know full well that those other regions are not part of the GTA (except for Burlington).

You can't help but embellish the facts.

Caltrane, you are incorrigible... that reference is not only unauthoritative, it is wrong on the GDP figure.... and you know it.

It actually probably isn't wrong. It makes far more sense than many of the other numbers out there.

Who the hell cares, and what does any of this have to do with future skylines? Toronto is still killing with new build even if the number is yours or Caltranes. What does Caltrane have to gain by making up numbers? Nothing.

Can we move on?

Ok you will still recognize Toronto in 10 years. The CN Tower and concrete slabs at the lake assure us of that.

Please, please, please stop before you embarrass yourself anymore. You're pulling data off the internet and you don't even understand what you're looking at. GDP per capita in Toronto of $100,000????? It's one preposterous comment after another with you.

Sorry, but stick to what you know how to do: taking pics of buildings.

We will be surpassing Tokyo with buildings over 200m in the next 3 to 5 years so you're wrong there. If you're talking about Supertalls Tokyo has none and it's tallest building is 240 m to the roof. Toronto already has 3 taller soon to be more. We'll catch up to Shanghai and Hong-Kong later. Chicago will be the next to fall after Tokyo though.
