I was in East Berlin back in the 80s. I was shocked to see bombed out buildings still untouched. I was transfixed. I wandered the streets for days, trying to reassemble the streets in my mind.
Everytime Im in Germany I try to visualise what this street or that square must have looked like.
Was in Stuttgart and Frankfurt last January. You can see pieces of old city. I always try to piece together. Such a tragedy.
I would love it if there were pictures of before and after shots taken from the same point. I am fascinated by this.

Here is a view from that bridge in 2012 looking back towards the plaza outside the Hofkirche. IMO I think it looks much nicer now than in that old postcard.
