Super last minute, but I finally had an excuse to stop lurking and join this forum.
UrbanCSA, a student lead organization, is renting out the Plaza Theatre in Kensington to show
Urbanized, a film by Gary Hustwit. The documentary explores urban design and planning strategies that major decision makers are using to manage successful contemporary cities. This will be the second showing of the film at The Plaza, the first of which reportedly turning away nearly 100 people after the film sold out.
The film will be shown at
6:30pm (doors open at 6:00) on March 28, 2012 at the Plaza Theatre. UrbanCSA execs will be selling tickets for $10.00 (CASH ONLY!) at the door which will also get you a free club membership for next year (normally $5.00). Membership is not required to buy tickets.
After the film there will be a panel discussion focusing on sustainable principles and planning strategies highlighted in the film and how they can be applied to Calgary. The panellists include
Dr. Byron Miller (Geography professor at the University of Calgary),
Jim Brown (CBC radio host and director of “Radiant City”), and Alderman
Gian-Carlo Carra (The City of Calgary Alderman of Ward 9).
