Rumor: The same people that are putting together Hotel Van Zandt are trying to put togeter finanicing for another hotel at the corner of Guadalupe and 18th. It's the old Sonic location combined with what had been the art gallaries next door. This property had been combined into a deal for another hotel before this most recent bust/recession (call it what you want) But it fell apart.
Anyone have any info?
This land looks to be for sale on Loopnet:
On the listing it says that "-10,496 SF land in downtown Austin (82' x 128')
-Existing Building 19,289 SF (per TCAD) shell only, can be redeveloped; concrete/steel structure with brick/CMU/glass veneer
-Zoned for high-rise mixed use, entitlements include 350 feet height and 12.5:1 FAR. If developed with the available adjacent property (1715 Guadalupe), allowable is 350,000+ SF buildable floor area."
and interestingly this "The next block to the west was recently purchased by Tim Headington, a Dallas billionaire who just completed and opened The Joule, a luxury hotel in downtown Dallas".
