^That's a great website! Very easy to use, I appreciate the simplicity in the design.

On your landing page I'd try to populate more stories on your "Pearl District News." If I was just a random visitor in town, two stories, one about a swimwear company and the other about MuRdEr, YIKES!

Also, for at the least the Eating/Shopping/Hotels I'd add in a rating system. Instead of the overused stars, how about pearls? I give this restaurant 5 pearls. LOL! I don't know. I do like the idea of a locally run Yelp like site, keep up the good work.

(Also, I think it's find your digs, not dig?)

The pearl rating system is a great idea! I will look into this.

The search will be just like Yelp: Search 'What' Near 'Where' (two search boxes)

Great news for an incredible site. We can hope the best for the design and it would be an incredible opportunity for some height to capture views above the tree line of the park.

Let's hope for a good design. LRS is not always so inspiring. That said, what a great site. The North Park Blocks is perhaps the most under-realized part of Downtown. The potential there is incredible given the proximity, the green space, and the building stock.

With more housing and retail this area could easily become one of the most vibrant and desirable places to live/hang out.

Very true, but the area need more larger destination retail--like the REI and Safeway a few blocks away. A lot of the small retailers in the North Pearl don't do very well because there's not enough foot traffic. It would be great to see some larger players in the neighborhood.

...The renovation and addition under way on the corner of Northwest Everett Street and Park Avenue is part of a larger vision to re-energize the North Park Blocks...

... Siteworks Design | Build began renovating the 10,000-square-foot building in March. Crews gutted it and installed a huge structural system featuring steel and concrete. When work wraps up this summer, the space will be divided into two ground-floor office spaces – for Acme Business Consulting and actor representative group Talent Direct – along with a restaurant and a second-story rooftop bar....

rest of the story...

I wonder how much longer it'll be before the building on the eastern side of the block gets torn down or rehabbed.

P.S. Thanks for the updates philopdx!!! You were everywhere yesterday!

On the quarter block at the SE corner of 9th and Everett where Brake Team was for a short while they are doing some work. The Brake Team letters are down. Here's the design review notice:

http://www.portlandonline.com/bds/in...42259&a=395980

It says it is for Local First and in the design it says 'produce market'. Anyone know anything about this?

A popular Pearl District apartment-and-office building is on the market for $15.6 million, nearly $7 million less than it cost to convert the historic building into an apartment, office and retail building.

HFO Investment Real Estate and Grubb & Ellis are marketing The Crane Building, a 30-unit apartment building with office and retail space at 720 N.W. 14th Ave. on behalf of Guardian Management LLC...
