Smile CLEVELAND - Downtown and Asia!

These are from last weekend, but better late than never. This set starts with some standard shots of downtown and finishes with a stop at Cleveland's Asian Festival.

Progressive Field, with the new wind turbine in place (makes me think of soft-serve ice cream!)

Standard shot from the West Bank of the Flats:

Detroit-Superior Bridge:

Terminal Tower:

Ooo, a zeppelin!!! (Yes, I know it's a blimp!)

Jackknife bridge in the background - I want one in my backyard!

Ernst and Young tower going up in the Flats East Bank project:

Federal Courthouse Tower:

At one point, the Powerhouse was abandoned, then it was a mixed-use entertainment complex, now it's home to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium:

Gotta wonder how noisy it gets for the folks on that side of National Terminal apartments with the Shoreway being about 10 feet from their windows:

Center Street swing bridge, swinging its thing... err... doing its swing thing?

Stonebridge Plaza from the Superior Viaduct:

Look out!!!!!

Over to Cliff Drive on the West side:

Closer to downtown, this shot is from the soapbox derby drive near the water treatment plant:

En route to the Asian Festival - note the buildings in the foreground; if you've seen 'The Avengers', they were prominently featured during the last fight scene:

And here we are at the Asian Festival (in Cleveland's Asiatown, no less); there's not really a specific focus on one culture.

Leaving the Asian Festival, heading to the Ohio City neighborhood, just west of downtown:

Yes, there are some Asian eateries west of Asiatown:

And wrapping up with some nifty bike racks near the Market Garden Brewery:

Hope you enjoyed!

There aren't. Asiatown is maybe 3 or 4 shops in one block of East Cleveland. Cleveland's a pretty black and white town, and it lost nearly 20% of its population in the last decade. I went to school there and like to go back every now and then, but would never want to live there again.

This is incorrect. There are more than 100 shops, restaurants, galleries, etc. in Asiatown.

CLEVELAND rocks. terminal tower rocks. and although there may only be a few skyscrapers in the skyline, they are big. and like i said terminal tower rocks . 708 ft of awesomeness. Calgary, where i live, has tones of skyscrapers but they are all new or built in the ugly assed 70s. some of the new towers are fantastic over here, but we have nothing old and iconic like that building. we have a modern and shiney new skyline that is wonder full but it truly has no old skyscrapers. in fact, we wished we had even one tower like that because no matter how big and awesome our skyline gets, we will never have an old district of our skyline. i cant stress how lucky Cleveland is in that regard. if some day your skyline explodes such as Calgary has. then you will always have the edge on cities like ours. you will always have those historic old towers to brag about. awesome thread. thanks for sharing.
